A coed, independent, Episcopal day school in Tampa, Florida, educating students in pre-k through twelfth grade

Leadership Academy at Berkeley

At Berkeley Preparatory School, we are constantly asking ourselves the following questions: How can we be even more proactive and intentional about giving students leadership development training? How can we continue to instill critically important traits and characteristics—such as courage, self-discipline, diligence, and integrity—within our students?

That deep thinking has resulted in the Leadership Academy at Berkeley (LAB). Sophomores are invited to join this program, which is a prerequisite for any student who aspires to take on any one or more of the many major leadership roles that exist here at Berkeley for seniors.

The program, which is included in tuition, will consist of two key elements: a non-graded leadership seminar and an experiential component. Students may complete the two-module program during one of three cycles: spring of sophomore year, summer after sophomore year, or fall of junior year. Students can mix and match when they complete the two modules, and there is no mandate for which module needs to be completed first.

Students who have completed the program will be eligible to apply for leadership roles throughout campus. If elected, those students will step into their new roles feeling both confident and well prepared.

This is challenge by choice at its finest—this is the Leadership Academy at Berkeley.
